Data Security & Protection
- Encryption in transit: Data sent between your browser and the service uses TLS 1.3. This is not end-to-end encryption; the service can read what you submit so it can score it.
- Secure Cloud Infrastructure: Hosted on SOC 2 Type II certified cloud providers (AWS/Vercel)
- Access Controls: Access to production systems is limited to the people who operate the service
- Data Retention: Interview recordings are automatically deleted after 90 days unless you choose to save them
- PII Redaction: Personal identifiable information is removed from resume content before AI processing
Your Privacy Rights
- Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate personal information
- Deletion: Request complete deletion of your account and all associated data
- Portability: Export your data in a machine-readable format (JSON/CSV)
- Opt-Out: Withdraw consent for optional email at any time in Settings → Notifications, or with the unsubscribe link in any email.
- Restriction: Request we limit processing of your data in certain circumstances

How AI Processes Your Data
VirtualInterview.ai uses third-party AI service providers to power our features. Your data is sent to the AI provider's API for real-time processing and is not retained by the provider after the response is generated. We use APIs with data-retention opt-out enabled. Personally identifiable information (PII) is redacted from resume content before AI processing where technically feasible.

Your rights: You can use core platform features without AI processing by not submitting interview responses or resumes. However, AI-powered features (feedback, scoring, resume analysis) require data to be sent to our AI provider to function.
Data minimization: We send only the minimum data necessary for each AI operation. For example, resume analysis sends parsed text content — not the original file — and strips contact details where possible.
