Sample Answer

I recently built a one-page “coffee menu” site for a local cafe that wanted something simple to show on a tablet at the counter. It was pure HTML and CSS, no JS. Structurally, I leaned on semantic tags like header, nav, main, section, and footer, plus lists and figure/figcaption for the drink photos. On the CSS side, I used CSS Grid for the menu layout and Flexbox for the header and footer alignment. The trickiest part was getting a responsive three-column grid that collapsed cleanly down to one column on small screens while keeping the images the same aspect ratio. I ended up using minmax(), auto-fit, and object-fit on the images. After a couple of iterations, it looked consistent across phones, tablets, and a 1080p display.
