Lyft’s Mapping team builds and operates a global mapping platform that powers Rideshare-specific experiences – everything from offering Riders accurate pricing and ETAs to navigating Drivers safely and efficiently from pickup to dropoff. This role is focused on the critical Mapping realtime services that power the navigation experience: Routing, Traffic, and Closures. The goal of every mapping platform is to create an accurate digital representation of the real world and then to find the “best” route using that map. At Lyft, we are constantly striving towards the “perfect route” – using all the available static and dynamic inputs to calculate the best route that drivers will follow and will get riders to their destination safely and on time. Our global Routing engine constantly balances dozens of factors including past driver behavior, safety and insurance risks of different routes, toll costs, driver and rider preferences, and any road hazards along the route including traffic congestion and road closures. Our Traffic and Closures systems process telemetry from millions of rides daily, user-generated realtime reports from drivers on our platform, curated incidents and road closures from our in-house data curation team, and third-party ingested data sources to make sure our Lyft Map represents the real world as closely as possible. You will work with a talented team of engineers, ML experts, and data scientists to help us build the “perfect” routing engine which powers pickups and dropoffs for millions of rides daily on the Lyft platform.

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $128,000 - $160,000, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
