About the team

Stripe Infrastructure is responsible for the reliability, scale, performance, and cost of Stripe’s systems and the productivity and sentiment of Stripe’s people.

You may work on a wide variety of critical business areas supporting Stripe’s operations, including:

• Operations Platform - We empower Stripes to quickly build secure and delightful internal products in service of their users.

You will work on projects that span technologies, systems, and processes where you will design, build, test, and ship great code every day.

Responsibilities

• Build a great customer experience for internal and external Stripe teams using our infrastructure


• Participate in roadmap planning and prioritization


• Deliver value through a strong collaborative approach with multiple customers and stakeholders across Stripe


• Debug production issues across services and several levels of the stack

• Uphold Stripe’s high standards for engineering and product quality and mentor newer team members to do the same.

Who you are

Minimum requirements

• You have a strong technical background, including 7+ years of experience building impactful products or systems at scale


• Enjoy being a generalist working on both the frontend, backend, and anything it takes to solve problems and delight users both internally and externally


• Write high quality code that is tested thoroughly, supported by clear documentation and has appropriate production observability


• You are empathetic with users, both internal and external, and strive to create a better experience for all customers


• Proven ability to stitch together many different services and processes together even if you have not worked with them before


• Uphold best practices in engineering, security, and design

Preferred qualifications

• Proficient in JavaScript (React) & Ruby; language can be learned and we care much more about your general engineering skill than knowledge of a particular language or framework


• Strong written and verbal communication skills for different audiences (leadership, users, stakeholders etc.)


• The ability to thrive on a high level of ambiguity, autonomy and responsibility


• Previous experience building products for developers or operations teams
