Toast is looking for a highly motivated and passionate Corporate Tax Associate to join its Tax function. This role will be part of the Global Tax Team and will support all corporate tax compliance, reporting, audits and special ad-hoc projects. The position will be based in Chennai, India and report directly to the Corporate Tax Manager located in the United States. This position can avail of a hybrid working environment.

Work Mode: Hybrid (2-3 days in office)
Work Location: Chennai

Shift timing: 2 PM to 11 PM IST (Cab will be provided)

About this roll* (Responsibilities)

Ensure timely and accurate corporate tax compliance: Support the preparation, review, and filing of U.S. federal, state, and foreign corporate income tax returns, including related workpapers, schedules, and disclosures, in accordance with applicable tax laws and filing deadlines.

Prepare tax reconciliations: Extract and analyze financial data to prepare periodic corporate (direct) tax reconciliations. Assist in the preparation of quarterly tax accruals and balance sheet reconciliations in support of SOX control requirements.

Support the global tax provision process: Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual global income tax provisions, including gathering data, preparing workpapers, and reconciling tax accounts.

Provide corporate tax expertise: Conduct research and analysis on corporate tax matters related to Toast’s products and services across current and emerging global markets. Summarize and document findings, staying informed of relevant legislative and regulatory developments. Assist in responding to notices and information requests from taxing authorities, and support corporate tax audits as needed.

Drive corporate tax process improvements: Identify and implement improvements to corporate tax processes and controls, including automation opportunities.

Foster cross-functional collaboration: Partner with Accounting, Finance, Product, Legal, Systems, and Operations teams to ensure compliance, improve tax data quality, and support broader business objectives.

Available to work 2pm-11pm IST in order to collaborate with Tax Team based in USA

3+ years of relevant tax experience starting in Big 4, law firms (supporting international clients) and progressing to a role in the technology industry preferred.

University degree, with advanced degree or professional qualification in tax, law or accounting preferred

Strong tax research skills using databases like RIA Checkpoint and CCH

Experience with data analysis and automation tools (Alteryx, Power BI, or similar) a plus

Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and establish ongoing relationships

Ability to effectively influence and communicate cross-functionally within the business

Fluent English

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
