Product Designer, Core Rider

We’re looking for a bold, imaginative Senior Product Designer to help shape the evolution of the Lyft Rider experience. As part of the Rider Core Experience team you’ll lead design for high-impact app experiences that are central to Lyft’s growth and success. You’ll drive design strategy and execution across initiatives focused on rider conversion, retention, and service excellence within the Lyft app — and guide the work of other designers on the team to bring these experiences to life.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Product Designer on Lyft’s Rider Core Experience team, you’ll shape how riders discover, evaluate, and choose between different ride options across the Lyft app. This role sits at the heart of our Offerings experience—where pricing, service differentiation, personalization, and feedback signals come together to help riders find the right ride for every moment.

We’re looking for a visionary designer who sees ambiguity as opportunity. You’ll identify key friction points in the ride selection and service experience, anticipate evolving rider expectations, and design intuitive, trustworthy experiences that turn everyday transportation decisions into long-term loyalty. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who spots untapped potential early, challenges existing patterns with strong user empathy, and thrives on fast-moving, cross-functional teams.

You’ll rapidly prototype and test new concepts, validate hypotheses with data and research, and iterate based on real-world insights—while aligning product, engineering, data science, and research partners around a clear design vision. This role offers the autonomy to shape where Lyft’s ride offerings go next, the support to pursue bold ideas, and the opportunity to see your work ship at scale across millions of riders.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the conceptualization and design of rider experiences and across the Lyft rider experience.


• Develop deep empathy for undiscovered user needs through immersive research, trend analysis, and intuitive market sensing to inform breakthrough experiences


• Quickly generate, test, and iterate on multiple concepts simultaneously, embracing calculated risks and learning from both successes and failures


• Anticipate market shifts before they happen and proactively design solutions that position Lyft ahead of emerging trends and behaviors


• Rally product managers, engineers, researchers, and executives around ambitious visions, inspiring teams to pursue transformative opportunities


• Pivot gracefully between strategic thinking and hands-on delivery as conditions evolve, demonstrating flexibility without compromising quality


• Connect design decisions directly to business outcomes, with a keen understanding of how your work drives key metrics and unlocks new revenue streams

Experience:

• 6+ years of experience working in UX, UI, HCI related field with experience working on web and mobile design


• Experience working with a lean team of Engineers, Product Managers and Program Managers


• Experience designing innovative products for desktop and mobile


• Excellent oral and written communication skills


• Experience with user research methods and analysis


• Expertise with Figma and other prototyping tools


• Excellence in design craft


• Ability to work with a low-ego, highly collaborative, cross-functional team


• Excited about working in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment

The expected base pay range for this position in the New York City area is $128,000 - $160,000, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
