The Strategies and Cortex team is focused on building personalized, automated investing experiences that help customers grow their wealth over time. Strategies enables investing on autopilot through advisory services, while Cortex powers intelligent insights across stocks, crypto, and portfolio experiences. The team delivers regulated financial guidance through scalable systems, including tax optimization, portfolio insights, and in-app dashboards that help customers make informed decisions!
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team responsible for building and scaling these customer-facing investing products. You will work closely with product and design partners to define requirements, deliver new features, and improve core systems that support personalized financial advice. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with team development, enabling you to guide architecture decisions, support engineers in their growth, and deliver new product capabilities from early concept through launch. You will play a key role in shaping both product direction and engineering practices across a rapidly evolving space!
This role is based in our Menlo Park, CA office, with in-person attendance expected at least 4 days per week.

What you’ll do ● Lead and support a team of engineers by providing technical direction, regular feedback, and clear growth plans
● Work with product and design partners to define requirements, scope milestones, and deliver features that support personalized investing experiences
● Guide the design and development of backend or full-stack systems that power advisory tools, tax workflows, and portfolio insights
● Establish engineering processes that support reliable delivery, maintainable code, and system scalability as products expand to new markets
● Review architecture decisions and help the team resolve complex technical challenges
What you bring ● 1–3 years of experience managing engineers, including supporting performance and career development
● Experience building and launching early-stage consumer products or contributing to product-focused platform systems
● Strong backend or full-stack technical background, with the ability to review system design and guide architectural decisions
● Experience working on teams delivering customer-facing software at scale, ideally in organizations with 50+ engineers
● Ability to translate business goals into clear technical plans with measurable milestones
