Optasia has been chosen as an investment opportunity by top firms such as Abu Dhabi's Waha Capital in 2017, and Ethos, a leading South African investment company in late 2018. The company also obtained ISO 27001 Certification in late 2021. Founded as Channel VAS in 2012, we became Optasia in 2022, incorporating a brand identity that more broadly reflects our capabilities.

A family needs to load an electricity meter. Payday is three days away.
That is a credit decision. In most of the markets we serve, there is no formal credit history to make it with.
Optasia’s platform makes decisions like that one in real time, at scale, by reading everyday financial behaviour. Built first for airtime credit, the same engine now supports cash loans, buy-now-pay-later, merchant credit for small businesses, and advances for essentials — delivered through the operators and banks people already use.
In 2025, microfinance grew 149% and became the larger part of our business.

In many of the markets we serve, connectivity is no longer the main barrier to financial inclusion. 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 is.
People hesitate to adopt 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 when they are unsure how their data will be used or whether the system will treat them fairly. So we treat data with the same seriousness as financial capital. We deliver exclusively through licensed financial institutions and regulated partners, we build privacy and governance into the platform from the start rather than bolting them on at the end, and our controls are backed by 𝗦𝗢𝗖 𝟮 𝗧𝘆𝗽𝗲 𝗜𝗜 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗜 is not a future ambition for us. It is an operating requirement today, because adoption only sticks when people trust the system behind it.

AI gets a lot of appreciation these days. What deserves just as much is the care that goes into using it well.
At Optasia, 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸. It's what lets us make credit decisions for millions of people, many with no formal credit history, who the traditional system would never see. When it works well, someone gets a fair first chance at credit they would otherwise be denied.

Last week in London, we were proud to be part of an incredible evening celebrating Africa's most significant capital markets transactions — spanning equity and debt capital markets, M&A, project finance and syndicated loans. It was a privilege to celebrate alongside the colleagues and clients whose ambition, innovation and partnership make these achievements possible.
Among them, our ZAR6.3bn IPO last November was recognised as Best IPO in Africa. Accepting the award on behalf of Optasia was our Director of Investor Relations, Georgina McCooke, CFA.
