VirtualInterview.ai vs Aced (Exponent + Pramp)

Aced — the 2026 name for Exponent, which had already absorbed Pramp — is where you go to be interviewed by another candidate: you schedule a session, interview each other, and swap feedback, with courses around it and a new paid AI-feedback layer. VirtualInterview.ai is an AI interviewer you can start in a minute at midnight, that follows up on your answers and scores each one. The trade is a real person versus availability and consistency.

A person when you can schedule one; an AI interviewer for everything in between

Peer mocks on Aced are free with monthly credits and nothing replaces a human reacting to you — but you are also interviewing them, sessions need scheduling, and the feedback quality depends on who you get. VirtualInterview.ai runs the round on demand in general, technical, behavioral, recruiter screen, system design, managerial, case study, technical assessment, leadership, panel, salary negotiation, final / executive formats, scores every answer for relevance, depth, clarity, and never has a no-show. Aced's AI feedback on interviews is early-access and paid; VirtualInterview.ai's scoring is on the free plan.

What each one is

VirtualInterview.ai
Free (2 interviews/mo) · Pro $20/mo or $200/yr · credit packs from $9

VirtualInterview.ai is a browser-based AI practice tool for interviews and other high-stakes conversations, plus a resume builder. You describe what you want to practise — a job interview for a role, seniority and interview format, or a visa interview, an admissions or thesis defence, a presentation with audience questions, a media interview, an investor pitch or a negotiation — in one of 50+ languages; an AI interviewer in the matching persona asks questions and follows up by voice or text, scores each answer for relevance, depth, clarity, and produces a coaching report you can retry against. The free plan includes 2 interviews a month with no card, and the report for your first completed interview is shown in full; Pro is $20/month or $200/year, and one-time credit packs start at $9. Pro can choose among 4 model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI) across 12 round formats. It does not feed you answers during a real interview.

When to choose each

Choose Aced (Exponent + Pramp) if…
  • You want a human on the other side and can commit to scheduled sessions where you also interview your partner.
  • You are preparing for PM or system-design rounds and want a course library alongside the practice.
  • You want to hear how another candidate at your level answers the same questions.
Choose VirtualInterview.ai if…
  • You want to practise right now, or at odd hours, without scheduling or reciprocating.
  • You want consistent, rubric-based scores on every answer rather than feedback that varies by peer.
  • You will interview in a language other than English (50+ languages).
  • You have one interview coming up and want a one-time credit pack (from $9) rather than a membership.

How a VirtualInterview.ai session runs

  1. 1.Set up the round: role, seniority, focus area, format (general, technical, behavioral, recruiter screen, system design, managerial, case study, technical assessment, leadership, panel, salary negotiation, final / executive), the company if there is one, and the question language (50+ languages).
  2. 2.Answer by voice or text. The interviewer asks 5 questions on the free plan (up to 20 on Pro) and follows up on what you actually said.
  3. 3.Read the report: every answer scored for relevance, depth, clarity with what the score is based on, then a retry plan for the weakest answers. Re-answer those and compare.

Pricing: Free (2 interviews/mo) · Pro $20/mo or $200/yr · credit packs from $9. Pro adds unlimited interviews, AI model choice, PDF reports and unlimited resume tools.

Questions people ask

What happened to Pramp?

Exponent acquired Pramp in 2021 and moved all new sessions onto Exponent Practice in July 2024. In 2026 Exponent rebranded as Aced. Aced's own FAQ now says "Pramp is now Aced (formerly Exponent). You can schedule the same types of mock interviews on Aced as you could on Pramp, however you'll need an Aced account."

Is Aced (Exponent) free?

Peer mock interviews are free: "Free users are allotted credits to practice every month." The courses and the new AI feedback and transcripts are for paid members; Aced's pricing page sits behind sign-in, so we do not quote a number.

Does Aced have AI mock interviews?

It has AI feedback on your peer interviews — "a score for each attribute and a recommendation on how to improve" — for behavioural, PM, system design and data science, currently in early access for paid members. The interviewer is still a human peer. On VirtualInterview.ai the interviewer is the AI, which is why it can run any time.

Is an AI interviewer as good as a peer?

Different. A peer brings human reaction and sometimes insider knowledge of a company; they also bring no-shows, uneven feedback and the obligation to interview them back. An AI interviewer brings availability, follow-ups every time and a consistent rubric. Most people who use both do the AI rounds for volume and the peer rounds before a final.

Which is better for FAANG-style coding rounds?

For live coding with another engineer watching, Aced peer sessions (or interviewing.io's free AI Interviewer) fit better. VirtualInterview.ai's technical format is about explaining approach, trade-offs and past work out loud — the part of a coding round that candidates under-practise — rather than a shared code editor.

How this comparison was made

We publish VirtualInterview.ai, so read this as a vendor comparison that tries to be checkable rather than an independent review. Aced (Exponent + Pramp)'s pricing and features were read from its own pages on 2026-10-15 (source) and are quoted as displayed; where a price is only shown after sign-up we say so instead of guessing. We do not assign ratings to either product. If something is out of date, email support@virtualinterview.ai and we will correct it and bump the date.
