Start Coding — FreeThe technical format is the conversation half of a coding loop. You pick the role and level, name the company if there is one, and the AI interviewer asks you to walk through an approach, design a system, or explain a project on your resume — then follows up on whatever you said. There is no code editor or test harness: use a problem bank for timed coding, and use this for the part where you have to explain, defend and describe. Every answer is scored so you know which explanation fell apart.
The interviewer asks
“You have a service that returns the top ten most-viewed articles in the last hour. Traffic just went up fifty times. What breaks first, and what do you change?”
A strong answer
A strong answer names the bottleneck before the fix: "The count-and-sort on every request breaks first — it is O(n log n) over a growing window. I would keep a sliding-window counter per article in memory, update it on each view, and recompute the top ten on a short interval instead of per request; if a single node cannot hold it, shard by article id and merge the top-k lists." Then it names the trade-off: freshness versus cost, and what happens on a node restart.
What the report says
Relevance high: it answers "what breaks first" before proposing changes. Depth high: complexity stated, sharding and merge described, one failure mode covered. Clarity: the retry plan asks you to state the recompute interval and why, which the answer skipped.
No. The technical format is about explaining approach, complexity, trade-offs and past systems out loud. For timed problems in an editor use LeetCode, HackerRank or interviewing.io's free AI Interviewer, then come back here for the rounds where you have to talk.
Yes. You are asked to design a system, state requirements and constraints, choose components and defend the trade-offs; the interviewer follows up on capacity, failure modes and alternatives.
Name the company at setup and the round follows its publicly described process — the kinds of rounds and what they emphasise. We do not have leaked question banks.
Yes within the free plan: 2 interviews a month, no card. Pro ($20/month) removes the cap and adds AI model choice and PDF reports.
The same 3 dimensions as every format — relevance, depth, clarity — applied to technical content: did you answer the question asked, did you go deep enough on complexity and failure modes, and could an interviewer follow the reasoning.
Free plan: 2 interviews a month, no card. Pro $20/month or $200/year; one-time credit packs from $9. See pricing. It does not feed you answers during a real interview.
